Semiconductor Distributor - WPG (TSE:3702) Announces Third quarter 2007 consolidated Sales of TW$43.14 billion (US$1.31 billion)

WPG, Asia No.1 electronics distributor, posted consolidated sales of TW$15.48 billion (approximately US$468 million) for the month of September 2007, breaking its historical record. For the hot season of NB and networking, the continued sales growth of i-Phone, China branded handset and consumer electronic products, eg. LCD TV, MP3, digital photo frame, security control, the consolidated sales represented a 28% Y/Y increase. Third quarter consolidated sales was TW$43.14billion (approximately US$1.31 billion), represented a 30% Q/Q and a 32% Y/Y increase respectively. Consolidated sales of 3Q 2007 was TW$104.22 billion (approximately US$3.16 billion).
Accompany the shaping and strength of supply chain platform gradually, China emerging market became the major grown engine of the sales. Other than Mobile Phone, Notebook PC, MP3 Player and Networking, the shipment of LCD TV, Photo Framer, Set-Top-Box, Green Energy, Small/medium-size TFT Panel, RFID continually grow. Besides, new product lines to be complemented as a platform of various application will be rollout continuously.. It brings the effect of economy of scale and scope. Over 60% of shipment sales were from China presently. Year-to-Date sales breakdown by regions was as follows: 67% from China (incl. HK), 23% from Taiwan, 10% from Asean. Sales percentage of Korea is still in a small portion but grow rapidly.
Year-to-Date sales breakdown by product category was as follows: 44% from core chips (CPU, MPU, chipsets), 31% from standard chips (logic, analog/linear, discrete and ASSP), 15% from memory chips (DRAM, SRAM, Flash, EEPROM), and 10% from others.
