Following the introduction of “Employee Stock Ownership Trust”(ESOT) in
early 2021, WPG continues to strengthen corporate governance and announces
the nomination of Ms. Kai Charn Young, former Executive Vice President of
CDIB Capital Group as candidate for 2021 AGM independent director
by-election. Through improving board diversity, WPG wishes to respond to
Financial Supervisory Commission’s “Corporate Governance 3.0 -
Sustainable Development Roadmap”. Given Ms. Young’s expertise and
extensive experience in investment activities, WPG believes her addition
to the board will make a material contribution to board resolution qualities
and diversity.
Female leadership has been one of the leading ESG trends among corporates
globally. WPG acknowledges the value of diverse perspective that female
board member may bring to the board and therefore nominates female
independent director for the first time. The board believes the addition of
Ms. Young will not only improve board effectiveness, but also serves as a
response to investors’ expectation in board diversity and increased female
board seats.
In the future, WPG will continue improve board diversity, including gender,
age, nationality, tenure, and professional skills, etc. by regularly review
board composition in order to align with our diverse goal and sustainable
development strategy.
