Green Building and Low Carbon Operation
WPG values the importance of environmental protection. Our newly constructed headquarter has obtained Green Building Gold Certificate issued by the Ministry of the Interior in 2020, and our warehouses in Linkou, Hong Kong and Singapore have obtained ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system certification in order to effectively promote and implement environmental management, and to reduce environmental impacts during the operating process.
WPG headquarter construction was completed in November 2020. All WPG subsidiaries located in Taipei City had successively moved into the headquarter for a centralized workforce. By adhering to the concept of "One Building", WPG not only shortened the distance between employees of each Group, improved the efficiency of communication, but also maximized resource utilization and reduced carbon emissions. WPG headquarter used various environmental friendly green building materials and installed energy-saving facilities and equipment.
- Energy-saving Equipment and Green Building Material
The green building construction of WPG's headquarter include: dual Low-E glazing for the exterior wall to effectively isolate external air temperatures, reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions from air conditioning, and uses low-pollution green building materials including low VOC paint for the entire building, gypsum board, calcium silicate board, and laminate hard plastic sheet, with LED panel light ceiling frame and lightweight partition design, as well as energy-saving equipment such as energy efficient inverter air conditioners, energy-saving LED lighting, and water-saving devices.
- Energy Activation and Recycling
PV panels are installed at the roof of the building to collect solar energy during the day as power source for street lighting on the first floor. The building is installed with rainwater harvesting and automatic irrigation systems, which can store rainwater for rooftop garden and street trees on the first floor. Meanwhile, the first floor is designed with permeable pavements and a water tank to collect rainwater for recycling and adjustment of ground temperature.
- Waste Treatment and Management
Sewer and discharge pipe are installed to discharge all wastewater to the municipal sanitary sewer, and thereby reducing environmental pollution. Centralized waste storage room is available at the basement for garbage classification and recycling. Refrigerated storage is also available for food waste.
Garbage recycling is also actively promoted within the Company. Statistics of the recycled waste is regularly examined to review implementation results. Since moving into the new headquarter in 2020, personal trash cans are no longer provided to every employee. Instead, trash cans and recycling bins are only available in public areas (such as the pantry and toilets) to strengthen employees' environmental awareness and reduce waste.
- Smart Energy Management
Smart facilities and equipment such as AI facial recognition access control systems, building energy consumption (water, electricity) and air quality monitoring environmental control system, BIM (Building Information Modelling) smart property management platform, smart multi-functional business machine, smart meeting room, and electric vehicle charging stations, are installed to analyze usage and optimize resource utilization.

Cleantech Development Strategy and Results
In response to global climate crisis and the trend of energy saving and carbon reduction, cleantech (low energy consumption, low pollution and low emissions) development not only helps slow global warming and maintain ecological balance, but also shows great business potential. We believe it serves as critical driving force for company performance, innovative mindset, and diversified corporate development. As a distributor/agent in the semiconductor component supply chain, WPG does not participate in product manufacturing processes but our field application engineers (FAE) actively develops cleantech-related product solutions through R&D cooperation with our upstream suppliers (IDM/fabless) with the aim to support industry green transition.
In order to accelerate the development and application of cleantech, WPG has been seeking innovative business model, and formulated 3 major development strategies:
A total of 112 cleantech-related solutions were developed and published on WPGDADATONG platform in 2020, accounted for nearly 10% of total solutions WPG developed. The 112 cleantech-related solutions covered 9 major application categories, including solar energy generation, wind energy generation, battery manufacturing, smart grid development, industrial automation technology development, smart metering devices manufacturing, LED lighting development, traditional pollution prevention development, and technology and system optimization. In the future, WPG will continue focus on cleantech-related sectors and applications in response to the trend of global climate change and energy shortage.
